Legal Manager Department

Job Purpose:

Advise the management on legal matters and ensure legal compliance in all actions taken by the company – operations, agreements, contracts, arbitration, employees violations, regulatory.. etc. Also, represent the company in legal cases and other legal issues externally.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Company Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance of all company operations with Omani law and / or the operating law of the land where the company operations are based
  • Ensure compliance of all agreements, contracts, filings etc. where the company is a party with Omani law and / or the operating law of the land where the agreement, contracts, filings respectively are operative XI.03 Prepare a listing of all laws / rules / regulations, their compliances required, the steps to be taken by the company to ensure compliance and the relevant deadlines for the steps
  • Issue the list to relevant departments and seek the required papers / information from them
  • Follow up on compliance
  • Conduct surprise checks to cross-confirm compliance
  • Continually update the listing of laws / requirements / statutes

Contracts:

  • Prepare standardized templates and clauses for different scenarios that will help reduce operational time in executing agreements and will continue to protect company interests
  • Take input from the involved department regarding the key features of the required contract / agreement / document
  • Prepare in the best interests of the company contracts and agreements originating from the company to ensure the best interests of the company.
  • Vet in the best interests of the company contract and agreements received by the company where the company is a party to the contract for legal issues
  • Take inputs from specialized solicitors / consultants/ lawyers where required.

Legal opinion:

  • To recommend or undertake appropriate legal action in circumstances of disputes
  • To receive and track changes to the various laws, rules, and regulations affecting the operations of the company in normal course of business
  • Provide legal opinion to all departments.

Governmental and judicial authorities:

  • Prepare cases for court by conducting investigations, undertaking research and giving notice of court actions
  • Handle matters concerning the court on legal issues arising out of claims by / on the company
  • Represent the company in court outlining the facts to the court, calling and questioning witnesses, and making addresses to the court to argue the company's case
  • Monitor and liaise with Legal Consultants /Solicitors /Lawyers who are representing the company and act as a focal point in the company for all legal issues
  • Update the Management on the Pending court cases arising out of claims or other issues on a regular basis

CEO Assigned Tasks:

  • To handle all the CEO assigned tasks.

People Management:

  • Manage Training Needs Analysis for department staff
  • Manage the staff KPIs
  • Attendance Management
  • Coaching an mentoring the team.

HSE Standards:

  • Understands the HSE policies and procedures of the company and adheres to them at all times.
  • Reports incidents of HSE violations and lapses to relevant authority.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 15 years
  • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in law or related.
