History
Originally part of the
government-owned Oman Refinery Company, Al-Maha Petroleum Products
Marketing Company became a company in its own right on 22 June
1993, by virtue of a Royal Decree. The company was established to
provide retail outlets for fuel together with additional services,
such as convenience stores, auto services, smart cards and aircraft
refueling.
In 1999, ABS Lubricants Company
(UAE) bought a 35% share in the company, with the remaining 65%
retained by the government of the Sultanate of Oman.
On 7 February 2004, the company
converted from a limited liability company to a general Omani joint
stock company known as Al-Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company
